Surfers riding machine-made waves in the URBNSURF lagoon at dusk

URBNSURF

Tullamarine, Melbourne · Sydney Olympic Park

Overview

Guaranteed, ocean-quality waves — whatever the ocean is doing.

URBNSURF opened Australia's first surf park at Tullamarine, beside Melbourne Airport, in January 2020 — a lagoon built on Wavegarden's "Cove" technology — and has since added a second park at Sydney Olympic Park.

The lagoon produces hundreds of waves an hour, graded from gentle learn-to-surf whitewater through to advanced, reef-like barrels. You pick a left or a right, gear is on site, and the waves keep rolling no matter the swell, the tide or the crowds.

What you get

A wave for every session.

Beginners

Gentle whitewater and coached learn-to-surf sessions in a controlled, lifeguarded lagoon.

Advanced

Powerful, shaped waves and barrel sections for experienced surfers wanting more reps.

Kids & family

Family sessions, kids' programs, women's sessions and bodyboard nights.

Lessons & gear

Multi-week progression courses, with boards and wetsuits available to hire on site.

Good to know

Who it suits & where it runs

Perfect for anyone who wants guaranteed waves — nervous first-timers, time-poor city surfers, and improvers chasing far more waves per session than the ocean usually allows.

Two parks: Tullamarine in Melbourne and Sydney Olympic Park. Sessions run day and night, right through the year.
